Dial 8 from a landline (*Note that 8 is without a +) or dial +7 from a mobile.

In situations when you can’t understand the menu or screen (at the bank or Russian post office for example),┬ádon’t forget that you can use the google translate app to help you. If you open the app, just below where you enter the text is a camera symbol with a + inside. If you click on that, you can then hold your phone over the text and it will translate (although not very well) the text. Hopefully it will be good enough to understand the meaning.

When guests come to visit it’s nice to have a spare phone/sim card to loan guests when they come to visit so you can communicate more easily.
