Welcome to SAFS!
At the start of the 1700s, Saint Petersburg was an uninhabited land and for good reason; it was a swamp! No one could have looked at that territory and imagined what it would look like today. No one but Peter, the only one who didn’t see a swamp but a magnificent city upon which to build an empire.
To say he was an ambitious man is an understatement. With his efforts, reforms and dedication to progress, he pulled Russia out of the Medieval Ages and into the Age of Discovery. He built ships that sailed out of the harbor and into the unknown on adventures and excursions exploring and bringing Russia and the West closer than ever before.
Ships Are For Sailing (SAFS) is continuing his legacy by leaving the safe harbor and setting sail to explore Russia and the West, bringing them closer together by providing cultural and historical insight as well as updates on life as a Peterpat. For more on SAFS, check out the About Me section!
